Multi-outlet storage tanks to improve water distribution networks in India

چکیده

In developing countries, intermittent water supply (IWS) regimes have become a usual mode for operating the systems. The reasons and adverse impacts (inequitable supply, deterioration of pipeline so on) IWS regime are well documented in literature; however, limited work is available on solutions to improve regime. Here, we propose application multi-outlet storage tanks overcome issues by considering field conditions India. Two real-life distribution networks (WDNs) from India were considered as case studies. optimized followed hydraulic simulation various demand situations compare residual pressure single outlet tank scenarios. results encouraging terms pressures economy scenario. Additionally, operational benefits make it an ideal low-cost intervention improving WDNs

Opportunistic pathogens relative to physicochemical factors in water storage tanks.

Household water in Oman, as well as in other countries in the region, is stored in tanks placed on house roofs that can be subjected to physicochemical factors which can promote microbial growth, including pathogens and opportunistic pathogens which pose health risks. Water samples were collected from 30 houses in a heavily populated suburb of Muscat. The tanks used were either glass reinforced...

Introduction of Air Cushion to Reduce Seismic Demand in Cylindrical Water Storage Tanks

Water storage tanks not designed explicitly for seismic loading could require retrofit. One of the common ways of retrofit include some structural change in the lateral load resisting system that could be expensive and requires the tank to be out of service for relatively long time. This paper introduces a novel method to reduce seismic demand on tank’s wall without structural intervention. Thi...

Introducing Padded Wall to Reduce Sloshing Induced Wall Pressure in Water Storage Tanks

Sloshing due to ground motion develops large pressure on the walls of water retaining tanks. This paper evaluates the efficacy of padded walls on the reduction of sloshing effects in rectangular water storage tanks subjected to ground motion. An analytical solution based on velocity potential function is provided to obtain the response of  rigid and padded wall tanks in terms of the wave elevat...

Improve Replica Placement in Content Distribution Networks with Hybrid Technique

The increased using of the Internet and its accelerated growth leads to reduced network bandwidth and the capacity of servers; therefore, the quality of Internet services is unacceptable for users while the efficient and effective delivery of content on the web has an important role to play in improving performance. Content distribution networks were introduced to address this issue. Replicatin...
